On January 15, 2016 the State of Qatar raised its gasoline prices for the first time in 5 years. Qatar is the fourth GCC country to raise gas prices in 2 weeks and this is likely in response to the drop in oil prices. The price has increased by 30% so Lisa's Honda CRV cost about $20 (Canadian) to fill this week -- up from the usual $15. The new price of 40 cents per litre was a shock to most. The petrol stations were jam-packed on the evening before the price increase.
