Isaiah 58: 11

Isaiah 58:11

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Gardening joys

This week Lisa did some renovating in the yard -- with a lot of help. Laureen joined her on a fun trip to the greenhouses north of town. It is a wonderful place to get your fill of "green" which is hard to come by in Qatar. It is relaxing to walk among the plants, shrubs, flowers.

After purchasing 10 hibiscus plants and 30 weigela plants, plus a variety of other potted trees and plants for inside and outside, we headed back to town with a very full car.

Lisa called her new friend Edwin, the Gardening Supervisor on the compound, and he brought a crew over to do the work. The guys cut back the jasmine which was overgrown and (potentially) harbouring mice. Then they removed three lemon grass bushes (kept one), and a variety of other unknown vegetable plants. They moved the aloe vera plants, trimmed the bougainvillea, and replanted grass in areas that were bare. Then they put in a row of hibiscus and a border of the weigela. In time, things will fill in and provide a nice backdrop to the patio area.
